Marrakech ‘s iconic Gardens

1 Day

Discover the serene beauty of Marrakech’s most iconic gardens, Majorelle, Menara, and Agdal.

Each offers a unique blend of history, landscape design, and cultural heritage in the heart of the city.

Majorelle Garden

The Majorelle Garden is one of the most visited sites in Morocco and a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city. Created in 1924 by French painter Jacques Majorelle (1886–1962), it took him over forty years of dedication to bring his artistic vision to life. With its vibrant cobalt blue walls, rare plants, and tranquil pathways, the garden is a masterpiece of botanical design. It also houses a museum dedicated to Amazigh (Berber) culture, enriching your visit with insight into Morocco’s indigenous heritage. End your visit at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech showcases the legendary designer’s most iconic creations, sketches, and personal items. Housed in a stunning contemporary building, it celebrates his deep connection to Moroccan culture and fashion.

* The Yves Saint Laurent Museum is closed every Wednesday. Please also note that during certain periods, the museum may be temporarily closed due to changes in the item’s exhibition space.

Menara Garden

Built in the 12th century by Sultan Abd al-Mu’min of the Almohad dynasty, the Menara Garden is the most popular garden in Marrakesh. At its center lies a large reflective pond framed by a striking pavilion and surrounded by vast olive groves. Historically, the pond was used to train soldiers in swimming. Today, it offers visitors a peaceful escape and beautiful views of the High Atlas Mountains.

Agdal Garden

The Agdal Garden is Marrakesh’s oldest and most expansive green space, also created in the 12th century during the reign of Abd al-Mu’min. Its name, derived from the Amazigh word Agdal, means “enclosed meadow.” This historic orchard features pomegranate, orange, and olive trees, irrigated through a sophisticated system of reservoirs and canals sourced from the Atlas Mountains. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Agdal represents a fusion of natural beauty and ancient agricultural ingenuity.

 * Certain areas may be closed due to their proximity to the Royal Palace
